Mac (Leopard) workaround for RL
« on: June 25, 2009, 10:28:48 AM »
Having just switched to Mac, I missed my r-click uploads with RightLoad.
I have found a workaround, which although not as quick as RL, works nicely on the Mac

In Applications, open Automator.
  • Choose Custom.
  • Under the Library options in the l-hand panel, choose Files & Folders.
  • In the r-hand column, double-click on Get Selected Finder Items.
  • In the l-hand panel, click on Other (below Utilities), and choose Upload to FTP.
Fill in all your information. In the Directory and Base URL boxes, make sure you don't have a trailing /.
(I had a hard time getting mine to work, but found you need to have Force PASV as yes.)
  • This next step is optional: Click on Utilities in the l-hand column and then choose Copy to Clipboard if you want the result pasted to the clipboard.
  • Save your workflow file.
  • You now need to create the r-click (or Ctrl+Click if you don't have r-click of mouse enabled for secondary button) feature in Finder so choose:
    File | Save As Plugin...
  • Give it a name e.g. Wordpress themes and make sure you save plugin for Finder.

Now to see if it all works...
  • R-click (or Ctrl+Click) on your Folder or file(s) you want to upload.
  • Choose More > Automator > Wordpress themes
In your Status bar at the top you should see a message saying Upload to FTP with a red dot.
Login to your site and see if all is okay.
Hope this helps someone! :)
PS - Attached is an example Workflow file.
